Management Team
The Nova Ventures management team brings together the skills and experiences of several disciplines within the instrumentation industry. Our collective experience covers a wide range of knowledge and experience in engineering, operations, product development, manufacturing, sales and marketing, finance, legal and general administration.

Before joining Nova Ventures and becoming its Chairman and CEO in 2003, Mr. Barbookles served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Thermo Orion, a major water analysis instrumentation manufacturer that was a wholly owned subsidiary of Thermo Electron. Mr. Barbookles also served as President and CEO of Thermedics Detection, a provider of Analytical Instruments for Quality Control and Airport Security. Over the span of Mr. Barbookles’ career, he has held several Senior Management positions in manufacturing and operations with Cambridge Instruments, Warner Lambert/American Optical, Sierra Research, United Nuclear, United Technologies, and General Dynamics. He graduated from Buffalo State University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with an M.B.A.
Ms. Barbookles, who began her career at Nova Ventures in 2005, works with its Division Management teams ensuring the successful implementation of the company’s strategies. She also oversees general legal affairs and manages all M&A activities from due diligence and deal execution to transaction financing. Prior to becoming President of Nova Ventures, Ms. Barbookles served as its Vice President/General Counsel. She holds a B.S. from Northeastern University, a J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law, an L.L.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law and an M.B.A. from Boston University School of Management. She also maintains her license to practice law in California and Massachusetts.
Mr. Larkin, who joined Nova Ventures in 2009, is responsible for its financial functions including accounting, audit, tax and corporate finance, and also works on M&A. Prior to joining Nova Ventures, Mr. Larkin was the Chief Financial Officer of Home Made Brand Foods, a manufacturer in the chilled food market, and held several senior finance positions with Munters Corp., a climate solutions provider, and Thermo Electron, which was a provider of analytical instruments and services. Mr. Larkin holds a B.A. in Economics from Boston College, an M.B.A. from the Suffolk University Executive Program and has completed certifications as a Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Management Accountant.
Mrs. Torcoletti, who joined Nova Ventures in 2021, has over 17 years as a marketing and communications leader by developing and implementing results-driven strategies in both B2B and B2C markets. In her role as Vice President of Marketing, Mrs. Torcoletti works with the Nova Instruments and Nova Metrix divisions to drive the development and execution of marketing plans and strategies to grow revenue and profitability of the portfolio companies. She is also responsible for keeping the company at the forefront of development, leading the implementation of new systems, best practices, and technologies to improve lead generation and brand awareness. Ms. Torcoletti holds a Business Administration Marketing Diploma from Sheridan College and holds several certifications from the University of Toronto in Advanced Marketing, Digital Strategy & Communication Management as well as Digital Marketing Management.

Mr. Boone joined Nova in 2016 and serves as the Division President. Prior to joining Nova Metrix, Mr. Boone was Chief Executive Officer of Industrial Physics, Inc., a manufacturer of test, measurement, and inspection equipment. He also served as Divisional President pre and post divestiture of Nova Technologies Corporation, a former instrumentation platform of Nova Ventures that served the water, wastewater, and hydroelectric industries. Mr. Boone holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geoenvironmental Science from Shippensburg University and completed the Advanced Finance for Executives program at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business Executive Education.
Ms. Wysolmierski has over 17 years of experience in various accounting and finance roles at a number of large global public companies such as Anheuser-Busch Inc., Perrigo Company plc, and Jabil Circuit Inc. Ms. Wysolmierski has held Plant Controller positions at each of these companies with multi-site responsibilities and has particular expertise in Operational Finance for manufacturing businesses. Ms. Wysolmierski holds a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.

After serving as Director of Global Operations for Nova Instruments, Mr. Muller was promoted to President in 2011. His experience, including holding various management roles involving manufacturing and engineering support at Airbus S.A.S. in Europe, which designs, manufactures and delivers aircrafts, has made him an expert when it comes to sourcing and evaluating acquisitions. Mr. Muller holds a master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Technical University in Munich, Germany and an M.B.A. from Boston University School of Management.
Mr. Geis joined Nova Instruments in 2021 and serves as the Executive Vice President supporting the Nova Instruments Division. Prior to joining Nova, Mr. Geis was President of KPM Analytics North America Corp., a manufacturer of analytical instruments for food and product quality. He also served as Vice President of Xylem Inc. for the Analytics Division, manufacturing instrumentation for water, and wastewater, environmental, medical, and industrial applications. Mr. Geis holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and is a Six Sigma Black Belt.
Just before joining Nova Instruments in 2012, Mr. Ullmann served as a partner and head of the audit department at BDO in Munich, Germany, a global auditing and consulting organization. He also held senior management positions at KPMG in Germany and the United States, one of the Big Four auditors. Mr. Ullmann holds an M.B.A. from Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, is a Certified Public Accountant and Tax Counselor in Germany and has completed certification as a Certified Public Accountant in the United States.
Mr. Scheib is responsible for driving business results of the global portfolio for Nova Instruments within the NDT division, which includes Dantec Dynamics, NDT Systems, Phoenix Inspection Systems and Technology Design. Prior to joining Nova Instruments, he held various sales positions with Olympus Corporation, a manufacturer of optics and reprography products; MISTRAS Group, a provider of technology-enabled asset protection solutions; and Imperium, Inc., which specializes in ultrasound camera technology.
